Children helping children

“When Young Carers in Aberdeen were given an opportunity earlier this year, Music 4 U worked hard to ensure that their needs were uppermost. Music and dance allowed young carers to develop self-confidence and self-esteem by challenging how they viewed and felt about themselves and others. Discussion and feedback from staff further emphasised the abilities of the young people involved and positive relationships were developed. I know from joint working how committed the Music 4 U team is to both social inclusion and awareness.”

Raising Funds

As well as benefiting from their own participation in music activities, our young members enjoy taking part in performance events to raise funds for charities that help other children and young people.
Special Performances
We have performed for audiences who are unable to attend live entertainment events due to ill health or disability, including Rachel House Children's Hospice, where our group regularly visits.

In addition, we regularly sing in Aberdeen city centre to raise funds.
Working with other organisations
Since 2005, we have been able to cater for a number of young people referred to us by the local Young Carers' Project and ‘Give Kids a Chance'. These partnerships have been very successful and hugely beneficial to those involved, and we hope to extend the opportunities to allow more youngsters to have fun with music.
